CIHC is proud to support the “Safety Matters” Initiative. Safety Matters is a joint endeavor between AIHA and NIOSH designed to educate young workers about workplace safety. It is based on NIOSH’s “Youth @ Work: Talking Safety” curriculum which was developed for schools throughout the US. “Safety Matters” is a 1-hr interactive teaching module targeting students entering the workforce for the first time.

A more extensive program, “Talking Safety,” was developed for California and provides a teacher’s guide and student handouts. We are also collaborating with the California Partnership for Young Worker Health and Safety to build awareness around job hazards for young workers.
